What attracted you to the event management world?
I stumbled into event management. I had been in hospitality and restaurants for many years, when I decided to move to Nashville I promised myself I would never work in the fast food industry again. I was offered a job at The Grand Ole Opry House and the Opryland Leadership & Training Department offered me a job, so I moved to training. I was the Operations Training Manager for the Convention Services department and someone suggested that I interview for the Manager of Conference Coordinators – I got the job and the rest is history.
How did you first become interested in this industry?
I enjoy operations and learning new things. I always wanted to help the world be a better place, but I am not built to be a doctor, scientist, activist or world leader. As an event manager, I am able to plan, organize and execute events that bring together like-minded people so that they can continue to find cures, work with patients and advocate to help people in need. I feel like that is how I am making the world a better place.
What is your favorite part about your job?
Meeting new people and learning about their organization.
What is the best part about the destination you work in?
Nashville is an incredible city with so much to offer, it is exciting to be part of something that is so “hot”.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I hope to be Director of Operations at CSI.
How do you like to spend your weekends?
I like to travel, spend time with my family and go to the pool.
Are there any causes you are passionate about? Any ways you give back to the community?
I support anything that campaigns for animal and child safety and ensuring they get out of harmful environments.
