What attracted you to the event management world?
I love the idea of helping people come together, whether it be for work, for fun, to help the community, etc. I want to help people foster new and old relationships and have fun or learn something new. It’s the best part of events!
How did you first become interested in this industry?
I was volunteering at the American Red Cross during college and jumped in to help with a few fundraisers and the Red Cross participation in larger events, fairs, etc. and I immediately fell in love!
What is your favorite part about your job?
My favorite part of the job is what I refer to as the twilight hour of an event or program – that last hour of the event or last day of the program when you can start to see the relief on a planner’s face and the joy of having successfully managed everything they needed with nothing left to do but enjoy the party and send off attendees with smiles and hugs!
What is the best part about the destination you work in?
There is always something new! New shows, restaurants, nightclubs, activities, and venues pop up all the time. I also love that clients typically choose Vegas as the destination to go all out and get crazy fun with incentives, sales meetings, and corporate retreats. It makes our job so fun!
What is one of your most proud accomplishments at CSI (or other company) so far?
I loved the work I did for the EDC Shuttle year over year, really expanding it into an extension of the event itself, and I was very proud of a carnival-themed event that got me a TSE Gala Award nomination with a big top room, midway games room and after-party space for 1200 guests!
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
General Manager at a DMC or similar-type company, or managing my own event venue/ranch.
Where are you from?
From Lubbock, TX, but grew up more in San Antonio, TX.
How do you like to spend your weekends?
I have twin toddlers, so my free time is spent coloring, watching Frozen, playing with Play-Doh, and catching up on precious sleep.
Are there any causes you are passionate about? Any ways you give back to the community?
Anything that helps/supports children whether it be for homeless or foster children, education programs for children, access to the arts for children, legal support for families, disaster relief for families, etc.
What are common questions that clients ask you about the event planning world?
Clients often ask for our expertise and ideas for new décor concepts, especially ones that will go well with their selected venue. They also ask for innovative menu creation, local knowledge of activities that best fit their goals and demographics, and when certain deliverables are usually due to the DMC (i.e. manifests, headcounts, menus, décor counts, etc.)
If you could bring any three people to dinner who would they be and why?
I’d love to have dinner with Lizzo, Ellen DeGeneres, and Joanna Gaines and talk about empowering people, giving back to people, and the importance of family, love, and community in our lives.
