Today we welcome one of our newer additions to the CSI family, Emily Scheider, a Creative Services Managers located in the DC office! Emily joined CSI DMC in June 2018 and we are so fortunate to have her come aboard.
What attracted you to the event management world?
I wanted to find a career that had lots of different avenues to explore, where I could continually learn and discover new ways of making things happen. I had a lot of friends in the industry as I got older, and I wanted to be part of the world they talked so much about.
How did you first become interested in this industry?
I started out in theatre and event production in high school and was thrilled when I found out that I could do this outside of school as well. My parents were not as thrilled, but they eventually came around.
What is your favorite part about your job?
I love coming up with new ideas and learning about different ways to present or enhance an event. There’s so much to learn and the research I do for different clients and destinations is really fascinating. You fall down some really interesting rabbit holes with this kind of research.
What is the best part about the destination you work in?
Washington DC is a great food and entertainment town. There is amazing theatre happening in the city, as well as delicious food everywhere.
What is one of your most proud accomplishments at CSI (or other company) so far?
I worked as part of a team on a proposal for a client who remarked that our work was the most innovative and exciting presentation that he had seen in more than 30 years in the industry. That felt amazing. Go CSI!
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Relaxing on my private island with my devoted husband Charlie Hunnam, while our dogs play in the surf…but realistically, maybe writing a book based on my crazy family and childhood.
Where are you from?
I’m from Barnesville, MD; it’s a very small town about 45 minutes north of DC. I was born on Maryland’s Eastern Shore but we moved a lot until I was seven and we permanently relocated to my mom’s family farm.
How do you like to spend your weekends?
Going to concerts and plays with my friends, eating, cooking, reading, and crafting. I also spend a fair few weekends up home helping with the family farm these days.
Can you guess Emily’s favorite film? Between these three options, it is either: Seven Candles, Shakespeare in Love or Dirting Dancing. Leave a comment on our Instagram @csidmc with which film you think is her favorite. Be sure to tune in to the next CSI Insider to find Emily’s answer!
Did you guess Leigh’s two truths and a lie? What was true was that her husband is from Ireland and both of my children were baptized in his childhood church. She also spent a month in Greece when she was a junior in high school. But what was Leigh telling tales about? While living in Colorado Springs she did not run the 13-miles Pikes Peak Ascent.
