The SoWa Power Station is celebrating its first year as a premier event space in Boston! Built in 1891 as the world ’s largest power-generating plant, it produced enough electricity to run the West End Street Railway. The century-old property’s structural elements have since been rescued and restored, transforming it into a 25,000 square-foot blank canvas for community, celebration, and innovation! We have seen the space used in various ways that have truly wowed us and those in attendance. SoWa takes pride in hosting exceptional private events and fun community events open to neighbors, friends, and visitors of Boston. When asked what makes Boston the perfect place to host an event, Carolyn Longdon, with Sowa, raves: “So much! The history and character of the city shines in the events through the venues, settings with beautiful views, delicious food, and exceptional service from all professionals to make events successful.”

Walking into the SoWa Power Station, you are welcomed into the main floor, a versatile, unique, and grand space perfect for creating unique events. The Mezzanine level beautifully takes the building’s industrial feel and modern features to create a warm and inviting space for more intimate functions. Carolyn divulges, “In hopes to continue the venue’s progression, we are listening to our clients and guests on ways to improve and feel that adding trussing to the space will allow for better use of the space to create even more magical events.”
